Give Up Your Seat.

So I'm waiting for the bus. It's me and a few people, including a blind woman with her dog. She hears the bus coming and she waves to it so he could stop in front of her. I guess they're suppose to do this to help them find their way on the bus. Well he didn't stop in front of her. So were all walking up to get on the bus and I let her pass me and get on first. So she gets on and she's standing in front of the seat, where you have to leave open for the elder and handicap/blind individuals, and this girl is sitting there on her cell phone looking up at the lady and the lady is standing there and I'm standing behind the lady waiting for her to move and I'm looking at this chick sitting there with this look like, "Ah, you stupid bitch. Get the fuck up and move! Don't you see this woman is in need of it?" So one lady gets up and sort of motions to the girl, but it seemed like the girl was a bit slow herself or just not paying attention cause she' s on the phone. Finally she gets up and moves and the blind woman and her dog sit down. Where the hell was she gonna go? Walk to the back of the bus with her dog?? Anyway, I walk towards the back giving the girl a look like she's a dumbass, cause she was. You shouldn't have to be told to give up your seat to an elderly person if you're sitting in the seat that was made for them. There's a reason why it's up in the front of the bus.

People, learn to use your head. You see a blind person standing there, give them your seat!!

my experiences around younger people have been generally negative for the last 10 years or so. I must just be an old crotchety bastard but I don't remember being rude or unkind to older or handicapped people and I don't remember people in my age group behaving that way either back in the day.

I mean, she was just standing there waiting for the seat. She knew someone was there and the girl is just yapping on the phone, looking up at her. It took some time for it to register, I guess, that she needed to get up. I was so annoyed at that. I called her a dumbass under my breath.

People are so self-absorbed at times. More blind that folks who are blind!

Hey! I'll be sleepwalking through Manhattan in early June. I'm writing about it on my blog at the moment, you crazy sleepwalker! :)
