So yes, today is my big day. I turn 36 and I'm happy. I mean, I would be happier if I were 26, but I'm still alive and healthy, so I'll take that.
And to continue being alive and healthy, I have decided to give up mountain biking because of the mountain lions. Yes, that's right, mountain lions. Where are the mountain lions? In California.
"But Lani, you're in New York!! " I know, Bob, but when I'm there and riding my bike, this freightens me. I can't concentrate on my biking skills when I know there are killer kitty cats lerking near by. I mean, the cat could be hanging out somewhere in the shade and not do anything, but what if it got a bad case of the munchies and decided to talk a walk??
I remember when a mtn biker was killed. He stopped to fix his bike and a cougar jumped him, killing him and eating his body. They later found him and half his body. I was so sorry when I saw this in the news years ago. I couldn't stop thinking of it. Then someone else that same day was attacked by the same cat. She lived.
They were bikers, like me. I'm sure I'm over reacting, but I'll start having panic attacks. I mean I already did once while walking through and instead of a cougar, I ran into a rattle snake.
Now I'm thinking New York is safe.

Happy Birthday!
Don't give up mountain biking, it's worth the cougar risks.
Thanks. :D
I'm trying to keep up with it. I'm trying. :)
just make sure you ride with someone else and you'll be fine
Two people riding isn't enough, it seems. I should just make friends with other bikers and ride in a big group.
:(
