My Baby Is Smart

I'm sitting here over hearing this man talk about how smart his kid is. The funny thing is, every parent thinks their kid is a genius at age 1. Sorry to sound mean, but you will be amazed at the things your little one will learn. All kids learn at different levels, but there is no overly smart 1 year old reading baby books on a 1st grade level. No baby is adding or subtracting yet. And no baby is forming sentences of a 6 year old. What 1 year old is actually telling his or her mother, "Mommy, I want to surf the net to find looneytunes.com." He says his kid knows a dot com when he looks at the screen.

Oooookay.

Be proud of your little one, sure. I'm sure one day I'll be saying how smart my little one is, but let's not get crazy and tell people, "He is unbelieveable. We're looking at a genius here..." just because he placed his hand on the stock market column.

I'm sure with all the pressure at work, he might have thought this up while he was sleeping at his desk and woke up thinking this was true. I can't see how a baby that young in age can tell you he or she is looking at a dot company.
