Living In Poland

Life in Poland would be interesting. Are there any Puerto Ricans there? Probably not. But it is possible. Perhaps I would be the only PR living there, boarding the Ukraine. I would walk around in the markets and buy cool things. If there are any markets. I read that the roads there are poorly maintained. That the driving out there is bad too. People blow the red lights. Some drive like they're playing chicken with you, waiting to see who drives to the side first. And if you're driving a nice car, it's possible you'd get car jacked. The roads remind me of the movie "Hostel." Great.

So why am I talking about Poland? Well, Tomas' boss ask him if he would work there for a year on a project. He said, "Well, I do have my girlfriend to think about..." And he said they would pay for me to fly out there. Although I would need insurance and since I'm not married to him, I don't get the perks. But I would live there for a year at the corporate house they would set us up in. So while Tomas goes off to work, I stay behind staring up at the walls, staring out the window, maybe spending the entire day on line, if I have access. Would I be able to survive this? I would then change this blog to:

LJ: A Puerto Rican's Life In Poland.

I would write each hour. Maybe something like, "Day 46. I've managed to get out of bed this morning. I've lost 36 pounds so far. I'm not digging the food so much. There's no burrito spot or Vinny's Pizza around the corner. The old ladies across the street like to stare at me alot. I'm wondering if they're staring at me because of my outfit or that my curly hair is overwhelming them..."

I would not work for an entire year. Wow. Sweet, right? But I think I would go nuts after a month. I would be living in POLAND, people!! It's not New York or Chicago or Puerto Rico. It would be Poland. It would be an adventure. :)

I had a friend who liveed there for a few years teaching English but this was back in the early 90s when crime wasn't so prevalent. I have a cousin who's an executive for Volkswagen and manages a plant in Poland and they have to live in a secure compound for Volkswagen managerial staff. Doesn't sound too cool to me but hey you might get a book or screenplay out of it, considering your angle.

Yeah, writing would be a good thing. I could work on all my creative projects.

But now I think we'll just keep up with our original plans. :)
