David Blaine agreed to hang on 46th street and 8th avenue for a few days. The deal is, if he makes it til 6am friday morning, he gets to take 100 kids shopping at target. So far he's been there for a day now.
So not much else can happen here. He hangs til friday and then he's down. But while I was there watching, he stayed there smiling at the crowd, at times spinning around too. A few times the bucket came over with 3 men and they would come up close to him and they would all talk. Then they started doing stuff and people were wondering what was going on. Perhaps it was peepee time? Whatever they were doing, they were up there checking him out. They have to. Though he's not eating anything, they have to be doing something. My guess. So I wonder when he'll take a nap. I'm thinking maybe I should go there at 3 in the morning to see if he's sleeping or not. I think he saw me though. This morning there weren't too many people out yet, so I was easy to spot. Of course I think he saw me cause I had a camera, so he'd look my way and wave. But I would freeze up and smil
e and wouldn't move. Dam it. I gotta stop that shit. So I just took pictures and just stayed there watching him. At one point I didn't realize anyone else around me, but THEN....on my freaking left, there was Mark and Mike!! My two dudes from Fox 5. So I was standing there looking up at David, then looking over at Mark and Mike and thinking....I should go over there and say hi and tell Mike that every morning I wake up to the sound of his voice. It's true. I set my t.v. to turn on each morning at 7am to channel 5. So when I wake up, he's yapping about the weather. So I thought, why not go over there and tell him this so he'd think I was wacko, right? He would have probably laughed. Maybe smiled at me cause I'm cute and then I'd leave so they wouldn't think I was nuts and try to leave me cause I would keep talking. Sometimes you just have to stop talking. Like right now, I'm typing away and I just can't stop...la la la.
However, I did manage to get a picture of them both, but instead of them coming out clear, some chick did. Who is she? I don't know. I guess if I really want to see him and say hi, I can always walk by when he's around the hood. I need excitement in my life. You see? They weren't that far from me. *sigh*
I did get to chat up with a few girls who saw me standing there looking all nice and friendly and we chatted away like we were girlfriends for the past 15 years. It was nice. One girl just started chatting with me. We talked about how we love target and how much we spend there. As we talked, she told me about how many bobbie pins she saw at Kmart, as she was looking for them one day and she used the word, "plethora." "There was a plethora of pins there." I was like, did she just say "plethora?"
Then another girl was with her dog and she looked over at me and ask me to take a picture of her dog with David in the background, WHILE she's holding her dog. So I did. I then told her not to worry cause I do the SAME thing with my dog. (See photo on right) :D
Well as far as David Blaine, hope he makes his goal and that all those kids have a great time shopping. Just leave me some bratz dolls cause I'll be right over there to shop after Thanksgiving. ;)

I just visited your photo site (not blog) http://www.lanijoan.com. I like the way you set it up. Very, very nice.
You are really good at close-ups. And there is a very nice self-portrait (I think it's you) in black & white.
Thanks Dan. Yes, that's me. :) Photo-shop helped me set up the site that way, btw...
