I was discussing "thank you letters" with someone, who told me he was talking to a recruiter who said he should send the person he interviewed with, a thank you letter. Then she said to him, “what do you think?” He says, “No shit” to me as he was describing to me his conversation with the chick recruiter. She said, “You’d be amazed at what people put in their thank you letters. So before you send it out, I'd like to review it.”
I can’t imagine what people would put in their thank you letters, other than the standard thank you. I mean, who gets really deep in their letters?
Dear Ms. Cracberg:
Thank you again for the opportunity to interview for the marketing position. I appreciated your hospitality and enjoyed meeting you and members of your staff.
The interview convinced me of how awesome my background, interest, and skills are with the goals of your company. As I mentioned during our long conversation, I am very confident my work for you will result in huge profits within the first two years. No, make that months. If not, there’s no money back guarantee here, sorry. You can just fire me! Ha ha.
Also, I am quite the handy man as well. I mean, if you needed to screw under your table, I am the man.
So, I look forward to hearing from you soon, okay? I mean, I will be interviewing and there will be a lot of other companies you would be competeing with to get me. So act fast like I’m a hot item. Supplies are limited. (Wink, wink)
So until then, Ms. Crackhead.
Sincerely,
T. McDoug
I say the recruiter will surely need to review this "thank you" letter before it goes out.
