Since I was a kid, I've always been scared of the dark. I would watch a scarey movie and that would ruin my night. The first series of scarey movies started when Iwas young, around 4, 5 years old. On channel 11, they would have chiller thrillers. I was born 1971. In case you don't know what I'm talking about. This was a cartoon of a dry desert and chilling sounds. Then suddenly a hand with 6 fingers would come up from the ground. Every time this was on t.v., I would run behind the sofa and cover my ears because this disturbed me. I was scared. Then they showed movies where you saw a hand crawling on its own. Or Dracula movies. Although, Dracula did turn me on...
I was around 9 or 10 years old, I think, when I saw Friday the 13th. Jason went around killing everyone in camp. In the end, someone's head got cut off. That scared the crap out of me for years.
Yesterday, my co-worker told me the entire movie of "The Grudge" with Buffy the Vampire slayer (Sarah M. G.). I was not going to see it, so I didn't mind her telling me. But just hearing her, I thought, man now i'm not going to sleep. But somehow I did. Last night I was very tired.
My question is, what goes on in the minds of these people who create these movies? Especially the disgusting ones? Dawn of the Dead. You have this young girl that scares the crap out of you. Then you look at your little niece and wonder if she would ever attack you. Movies like "The Grudge" where a hand comes out of Sarah's head. I mean, these things stay stuck in your head. Or in my head. Then you can't sleep. I'm still a chicken. So laugh if you want. I don't care. I sleep with a night light on. :o
It's Halloween this Sunday, and all the channels are showing movies just right for the holiday. I love Halloween. The colors, mostly orange, excite me. The costumes. The chill in the October air. It's a holiday I enjoy the most, next to Christmas. I put my pumkins in the window. My spider in the kitchen and a skull head on my door. It's great. When the light is on in my hall way, you can see his eye light up. The eyes have holes in them and so my peek-hole fits one of the eyes. It looks cool. And I'm sure the neighbors like it too.
Down the block, a few houses down, a family put out their Halloween ghosts and pumkins. They blow them up and display them for all to see. They do this every year. I love looking at it as I walk by it. I appreciate the time they took to put it up. It's great to see people decorate for the holidays.
Well, time to go home and walk down the block. Charlie Brown: The Great Pumkin is on at 8pm, channel 7. I love that episode.
Have a Happy Halloween!
